Today we look at a crucial part of theICEway ecosystem: CRIBB Cyber Security. Those who regularly check the news headlines will be very familiar with terms such as ‘cyber-attack’ and ‘hacking’. They might not be as au fait with ‘cyber security’, however, and this is something we aim to change.
Just yesterday, CRIBB released an article rounding-up key news updates from September. The blog piece featured hacks against Rockstar Games and Uber to name but two recent victims. There was also an update from the ICO on reprimands they delivered to organisations failing to deal with Subject Access Requests (SARs). On top of all that, there was a huge cyber-attack against Australia’s second-largest telecommunications company, Optus. The attack affected almost 40% of the Australian population, some 2.8 million people.
Hackers targeting high-profile brands. Large-scale organisations in the UK not dealing with requests from people wanting to see copies of their own data. Cyber-attacks affecting literally millions of people.
Simply put, the world we live in today is one that requires everybody to have cyber awareness. Our reliance upon technology has never been so great, our usage of digital platforms so high. We are all potential targets and must do more to protect our data and that of any customers we may have. More than that, we must ensure that we have practices and processes in place designed to mitigate the many risks posed by malicious actors.

This year, the experts at CRIBB created an annual cyber security solution named CRIBB CSR. The CSR here does not stand for ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’, though that is certainly something we’ll come back to in this very article. Earlier in this piece we touched upon CSR – at least in one sense. It would be remiss of us not to look at it in the guise with which most of us are now familiar. So then, what is CSR?
One definition is that it is the idea a company should play a positive role in the community. The company should also consider the impact of its business decisions upon society and the environment.
