This article on cnet.com details how Luxembourg’s CNPD issued the retail giant with a penalty of 746 million euros for violating the GDPR. It seems that Amazon’s data processing practices are not offering consumers enough protection. At the same time, they are potentially giving the company an unfair competitive advantage. This BBC News article reveals how the Chinese video-sharing platform was the most downloaded app in 2020. It took the top spot away from Facebook and was actually the only app not owned by Facebook to make the top 5. This growth in popularity even remained unaffected by Donald Trump’s attempts to have TikTok banned in the US.

Given the huge uptake in WFH and remote working following the pandemic, the move certainly makes sense.
