As the year draws to a close, we had the exciting opportunity to attend the World Travel Market 2024, held once again at the iconic Excel London. While we didn’t have a stand this year, we were still happy to attend. This event brings together more than 4,000 exhibitors and attracts over 43,000 attendees each year, uniting people from all roles, levels, and areas of expertise within the travel sector. This was the author of this blog's first time in attendance, so hopefully you'll gain some insights if you're considering going.
How to prepare for the event
The preparation for the event will differ depending on your goals and objectives. This is the biggest travel networking event in the world which facilitates an approximate $7bn of deals, so it's important to have clear intentions before going. The majority of attendees are there to promote their brand, assess the competition, explore partnership opportunities, and most importantly, collect up any freebies.
The agenda and schedule are released months prior to the start of the event, which is handy because it allows you to plan any meetings with the exhibitors or buyers well ahead of the events start date. If lead generation is your base, you'll need to tailor your sales pitch accordingly to capture attention and create genuine interest.
Highlights of the event
- The Premier League trophy in all its glory. (Would look a lot nicer in red...)
- The Visit Saudi stand was very impressive - the Largest LED wrap around screen you can imagine.
- A prototype Formula E car.
- Jointhepipe water bottles that were made of sugarcane (Carbon negative).
