STC Global 2024 promises much, and a key feature of the show is sure to be the third edition of the Interactive Tech Zone. The brainchild of theICEway and Seatrade Cruise, this was launched in 2022 and proved to be an instant hit. This engaging and educational area of the show floor is set deliver more insightful tech experiences this April.

The innovative new tech zone feature was introduced for the 2022 edition of Seatrade Cruise Global. Giving attendees something new to experience, the zone was overseen by theICEway’s David Tibbles. He was very happy with how it all went, with the zone emerging as a real stand-out element within the event as a whole. This was thanks in no small way to partners including Sourcetoad and Kilo. The former held prototyping workshops, which David cited as being particularly well done: “We probably had around 100 ideas prior to Seatrade, so from that [Sourcetoad then] whittled [it] down to… 5. There were some meetings… [, then Sourcetoad] created… clickable wireframes… [and] one of them has gone on to be a full… application.”

The 2023 edition of Seatrade Cruise Global relocated to Fort Lauderdale and delivered yet another fantastic cruise event. theICEway sent a team to not only take a booth at the show, but to also oversee the return of the Interactive Tech Zone. Back by popular demand, attendees were once again then captivated by cutting-edge technology in a fully interactive environment.

Exhibitors offered products including robots and VR headsets, whilst our friends at Lufthansa Industry solutions demonstrated some Augmented Reality (AR) tech. Attendees were able to experience just how AR can assist crew in solving complex issues. Sourcetoad also returned to participate, providing a live guest app that enabled users to control cabin technology and more. We then gave live demonstrations of theICEway’s unique tzChromar product, which allows onboard IT crews to easily change Time Zones on all ship devices. Other highlights included EXP360’s VR tech and LG Electronics’ CLOi AI robot – which was very popular indeed!
