theICEway Core values

Company values, or core values, are essentially the principles by which an organisation is guided. Designed in part to bring people together, they are essential in mapping out common objectives or goals. As part of theICEway, the team at ICE adheres to a value set that has been developed over more than two decades. Integrity

One of the key mottos adopted on theICEway is “we never compromise our integrity”. A vital element of IT in general – think data integrity – it is the cornerstone of everything we do at ICE, CRIBB Cyber Security and eTestware. When asked to elaborate further on this critical value, co-founder and CEO Ian Richardson has this to say:

“We believe in acting with the utmost respect and honesty in everything we do. There is a dedication here towards working ethically and fairly to reach our objectives. We are fully committed to treating people the right way whilst providing our clients with the best possible service through our tenacious work ethic. We are accountable for our actions and are always there for our clients, so they know they can rely on us.”

People

The primary value listed by so many organisations, people are undeniably a vital element in any organisation. It is true that achieving business objectives becomes that much easier when you have a strong team, working together.

According to co-founder and Managing Director Conor Byrne, “our most valuable ‘asset’ is our people, and as such we invest in them and enhance their opportunities wherever we can. Trust and communication are key elements on theICEway. As our people work together to create a strong, productive working environment, they can grow with our company. This therefore allows us to reach our full potential.”

Innovation

theICEway core values are rounded off with innovation. In the words of Ian Richardson, “innovation often becomes a key factor in achieving our objectives. We always aim to deliver, with quality and adaptability both paramount whatever the task may be. To be the best we can, we work hard and we are always trying to learn. We strive to provide our clients with the most relevant and cutting-edge service. On top of this, we understand and appreciate that complex issues require initiative and creative thinking.”

Conclusion

Having a set of values in place is a good start but you must ensure that they are followed. On theICEway, we have established an action plan to help and here are some key points from that:

- Make the values clear to all and provide training on their importance
- Add the values onto notice boards and post them in communal areas
- Incorporate them into job postings and in the interview process for new employees to instil them from the beginning
- Use them as a cornerstone in the decision-making process
- Incorporate the values into performance appraisals
- Apply the values to your daily life wherever possible

To become a successful organisation you must have exactly that; organisation. There should be clear objectives that everyone can work towards. Implementing values is a good way of helping to achieve this but those values must be followed.
