November is upon us and so it is time for ‘Cruise industry news Oct 2021’. Last month the world of cruise enjoyed even more new sailings as we continue returning to ‘normal’. Meyer Group unveiled innovative new vessel designs and we discovered that the MSC Seashore is to be the first ship named on a private island. All that plus the announcement that the first American female cruise ship captain will helm the new vessel from Celebrity Cruises…

Seatrade Cruise Global – The Home Of Innovation

Meyer Group chose STC Global 2021 as the ideal platform to announce their new, cutting-edge cruise concepts. This story from Seatrade Cruise reveals how conceptional models were unveiled at the event in September.

- Trimaran complete with people mover
- Battery-powered Helix design
- Futuristic river cruise ship

The trimaran features a people mover on the upper decks and a village inspired by Santorini on the aft. The battery-powered vessel will be 340 metres long and weigh a hefty 181,000 gross tons. The river cruise ship will also be driven by batteries and will feature LED screen windows showing real-time images of the outside scene.

MSC Seashore To Be Officially Named…

At Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in the Bahamas. This story, also from Seatrade Cruise, reveals that it will be named next month by actress Sophia Loren. This is of course tradition for new MSC cruise ships, although this one will be the first to be named on a private island.

Captain Kate McCue To Helm The Celebrity Beyond

This article in Cruise Industry News was on Kate McCue, the first American female cruise ship captain. She will helm the newest vessel from Celebrity, which was designed by Kelly Hoppen and Nate Berkus. The Celebrity Beyond will offer cuisine from Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud. It will also feature wellness experiences and products from Goop CEO and founder Gwyneth Paltrow.
