Innovation Hub

Welcome to our news and blog section. Here you will find the latest updates from theICEway and our IT specialists at ICE. We are frequently invited to attend and speak at industry events, so if you don’t want to miss out on those, this is the page for you.

With more than 20 years’ worth of experience in cruise, travel and healthcare, you will also be able to read more about these key sectors. Of course, at the heart of it all is Information Technology – which some of you may know as ‘IT’ – and we’ll certainly include news on that.

Our ecosystem of companies was founded upon 3 guiding principles, or values: People, integrity and innovation. We always aim to infuse our every effort with one or all of these. The first, ‘people’, includes not only our people, but also those we work alongside each day. If you are reading this, then you can rest assured that it also includes you.

As such, we welcome your comments and feedback so do join in the conversation. You can also follow us on social media using the links below.

Cruise industry specialist Thomas Helgemo

by Asa Sargeant | May 26, 2022 | General News & Events, Q&A | 0 Comments
2022 is bringing ever more growth to theICEway as we are now joined by another new face. First there was Seaware specialist James Barr, and now we are delighted to welcome cruise industry specialist Thomas Helgemo. Below are some excerpts from a conversation we managed to have with Thomas earlier on in the week.

What Are Your Initial Thoughts On TheICEway?

Well, I actually worked alongside theICEway as an MXP consultant for the last year or so. I was very impressed with the people and also the services they provide. They greatly compliment the efforts of MarineXchange and many other specialist cruise software vendors, so I knew the opportunity would be a good one when it arose.

Looking at your CV, you have a great deal of cruise industry experience.

That is correct, I started out back in 2001 for Radisson Seven Seas Cruises. I worked as a Hotel Inventory Controller, which entailed tasks such as inventory control and cruise end procedures. I also entered and posted invoices and requisitions using the onboard inventory control and ordering system. Essentially my role combined several positions such as F&B Manager, Provision Master and Controller/ Sanitation officer.

You have also worked for Silversea Cruises, MarineXchange and Brenock Technologies.

Indeed, I have been very lucky to have been a part of some fantastic companies. Now, I’m happy to say that is continuing with theICEway. At Silversea I was an F&B Controller to begin with. Then my role changed to Corporate Trainer F&B and Controlling before I became Corporate Hotel Operations Auditor.

I worked at MarineXchange for more than 12 years and during that time implemented MXP for more than 25 cruise and river clients.

At Brenock I was a Senior Business Analyst and Product Owner. They provide comprehensive technology solutions for the marine and cruise line industry.

Thomas, Is It Fair To Say Then That You Are Quite Well-Known In Cruise?

My hands-on experience with MXP is very deep but I have also set up policies and procedures, for example. I feel that here at theICEway I can build on my broad cruise experience to learn many more on-board and on-shore systems..

What do you see ahead?

There is a lot of work to be done but I see positive things in our future. I am looking forward to a new challenge and to working with the excellent team at theICEway. It is an exciting time for cruise as the industry looks to recover, with huge opportunities to explore.

Once again we are delighted to welcome cruise industry specialist Thomas Helgemo to the team here. Like him, we’re anticipating a positive year in 2022 and then many more thereafter!
