Innovation Hub

Welcome to our news and blog section. Here you will find the latest updates from theICEway and our IT specialists at ICE. We are frequently invited to attend and speak at industry events, so if you don’t want to miss out on those, this is the page for you.

With more than 20 years’ worth of experience in cruise, travel and healthcare, you will also be able to read more about these key sectors. Of course, at the heart of it all is Information Technology – which some of you may know as ‘IT’ – and we’ll certainly include news on that.

Our ecosystem of companies was founded upon 3 guiding principles, or values: People, integrity and innovation. We always aim to infuse our every effort with one or all of these. The first, ‘people’, includes not only our people, but also those we work alongside each day. If you are reading this, then you can rest assured that it also includes you.

As such, we welcome your comments and feedback so do join in the conversation. You can also follow us on social media using the links below.

Events Round-Up Nov-Dec 2020

by Asa Sargeant | October 28, 2020 | General News & Events | 0 Comments

As winter approaches, the team here at theICEway are gearing up for a series of events in cruise and travel at which our co-founder and CEO, Ian Richardson, will be moderating some panels on the role IT might play in bringing maritime organisations back to sea in a safe manner. We’ll focus in greater depth on these closer to the time but for now, here is a brief run-down of what to expect.

Each year we aim to attend some of the key events in the travel industry calendar, having spent over two decades working with a variety of different cruise lines, ferry companies and tour operators. During that time we have built up strong relationships and the opportunity to network and share our learnings is always one that we embrace.

Top Tip

One thing that we have learnt after more than twenty years in cruise and travel is that the travel industry is an incredibly resilient one, surviving through more than its fair share of disasters both natural and man-made. And it was with that resilience in mind, when Seatrade Cruise introduced their very first digital event, Seatrade Cruise Virtual, just last month – the team from theICEway were not only in attendance but we also had a virtual booth, which you can read about here.

This year has of course been a particularly testing one for travel, not to mention the world as a whole, and whilst we were hugely disappointed with the cancellation of Seatrade Cruise Global back in April, we could only respect the decision and do our bit for the safety of ourselves and others.

As the months passed and we all adjusted to post-lockdown life, remote working led to a huge increase in meetings on Skype, Zoom, MS Teams and Google Hang Outs – what is your preference? – which made for a novel change to physical meetings but which also left many of the team here at theICEway yearning for those heady days of yore where we would fill two meeting rooms with project team members!

Following on from our involvement at Seatrade Cruise Virtual, we are delighted to announce that we are now all set to participate in two more illustrious events this year, the World Travel Market and the International Cruise Summit – watch this space for more information but here follows a brief summary on both.

WTM Virtual

9-11 November

After 40 years of the travel industry’s brightest and best coming to London for WTM, WTM is now coming to them via its first ever online event.

The show will feature conferences, Q&A sessions, one-to-one meetings and more, with a range of panels also on offer including one that is set to analyse how technology companies can help the Maritime industry get back to sea.

This one is of particular interest to us as it will be moderated by our co-founder and CEO, Ian Richardson, and will cover topics such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Virtual Reality Glasses.

ICS 2020

1-2 December

The 10th anniversary edition of the International Cruise Summit is due to take place in Madrid but for the first time ever will also be open to digital visitors.

Billed as being “live – online or in person”, the event is expected to be experienced mainly through an online platform but as some attendees may still prefer to go in person, organisers have decided to keep the venue. This hybrid approach will certainly prove to be an interesting one, and with a larger global audience anticipated, this may well become the most highly attended summit ever.

theICEway is again delighted to announce that at the time of writing, Ian Richardson is set to participate at the ICS 2020, this time as a speaker on ‘the role of IT in keeping cruising safe’. Having worked closely with Seatrade Cruise on their successful Seatrade Cruise Talks podcasts on a similar subject this autumn, we are very much looking forward to hearing his thoughts!

theICEway ecosystem of companies comprises of ICE, CRIBB Cyber Security and eTestware, technology brands which join together to deliver technology projects, application managed service, cloud strategy and more. We work with your IT teams to provide a full digital solution, all the while embracing a true spirit of collaboration and a security by design approach.
